Curriculum.
Our name 'TKDFit' says what we
provide for our students and their
families. We are a Taekwondo
Acadamy that incorporates
Fitness into the programs taught
in our facility. The tenets of
taekwondo and a healthy body,
Now that's a winning combination!
TKDFit teaches traditional forms and self-defense techniques with a special emphasis on safety.
Belt rank is also traditional Taekwondo with advancement testing taking place every 8 weeks.
Beginner White and Yellow belt students are not allowed physical contact but learn basic
self-defense techniques called "Fight Sequences". Safety gear is required starting at Orange belt as
controlled contact Fight Sequences are introduced. Light contact free sparring takes place after
obtaining the rank of Green belt and is only allowed while wearing all of the approved safety gear.
Green, Purple, Blue, and Brown belt ranks are taught more advanced self-defense as they continue
to improve their skills. Also added to the curriculum at Brown belt is the requirement of "board
breaking". Red belt students increase the size and/or number of boards required for breaking along
with more advanced self-defense moves. Students obtaining the rank of Black belt have acquired all
of the basic Taekwondo skills and are instructed with more emphasis on becoming a Martial Artist
and being able to handle the awesome responsibility and self pride they have earned.
